28 percent of Algerians are illiterate: report
A report revealed by the social and economic council for human development reveals that despite the big achievements in fostering the Algerian individual’s general social condition, illiteracy still is at its highest level reaching more than 28 percent of the total population.

The report also revealed that poverty retreated in Algeria, basing on surveys carried out in this field which showed a general improvement in all sectors, including education, health and joblessness as well as the decrease of death’s rate, but poverty prevails in rural regions.

According to the report, women take the lead among the Algerian elites with 61 percent university graduates.
