290 billion centimes embezzled at Algeria Post

A total of 290 billion centimes have been embezzled at different branches of Algeria Post since 2007, according to well-informed sources. Algeria Post services decided to increase the number of inspectors to control financial transactions across 330 post offices in Algeria.

Investigators could recover 26 million Algerian dinars in 9,900 control processes carried out by Algeria Post services in 76 post offices in different places of the country.

 A total of 67 cases of public money embezzlement and counterfeiting will be handled by courts.The biggest embezzlement operation was recorded at Cheraga municipality in Algiers where 38 billion centimes were embezzled. This operation was discovered following an investigation led by security forces in February.
