30 Algerian “Haraga” pilgrims threatened with heavy fines and stiff penalties
It’s been revealed that about 30 Algerian Hajjis or pilgrims who have recently infiltrated into the holy places of Islam, without lawful clearance, will be facing sanctions ranging from severe fines and prohibition from traveling to Saudi Arabia for a period of more than 10 years.
Reliable sources from the Embassy of Algeria in Riyadh informed the relevant authorities about the total number of these Algerian “Haraga” pilgrims, averaging 30 people, who reached the holy places of Islam notably for Umrah during the last month of Ramadan, saying that some of them had been infiltrated by Egyptian smugglers, specialized in smuggling pilgrims, in return for funds up to $ 1,000 dollars for a single Hajji through private boats.
The same sources also indicated that the Algerian authorities are set to take firm measures to stamp out this nefarious phenomenon due to the size of the problems and consequences engendered by it, notably by imposing stiff penalties on them on their return to Algeria, including jail sentences if need be.
