32,000 policemen to thwart any terrorist attack during Pan African Cultural Festival

Policemen, belonging to the various security services in the province of Algiers have been put on a state of emergency since last Thursday.

 

  • Campaign of inspections of the vehicles, particularly east of Algiers, were launched a few days ago, as well as physical inspection of the citizens in the buses, particularly in popular districts like Kalitous, Ain Nadja and Bab Ezouar in Algiers.
  • Security services also prevented vehicles to stop or park in the main streets of Algiers and intensified patrols, particularly in the evenings in many suspicious neighbourhoods with the rising of vigilance and control points that are supported by detectors of explosives.
  • Echorouk knew that  Col Ali Tounsi,  General Director of the national police services gave strict instructions to ensure the security and properties of citizens with stricter control and vigilance so as to garantee the success of the upcoming Second Pan African Cultural Festival during to be held in the Algerian capital between the 5th and 20th of next July. 
  •  The latter reflects Algeria’s image abroad. As a result, the work of intelligence to thwart any terrorist attack was beefed up by the security services in order to ensure the smooth running of this mega African cultural event.
