350 Algerian companies to participate in Munich International Exhibition next April

The head of the Algerian-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce, Andreas Hergner Witter, said the German public and private companies are hoping to get a respectable share of the projects that were programmed by the Algerian government in the field of infrastructure projects estimated at $30 billion until 2014, up from the five-year development plan estimated at $150 billion.

  • Hergner Witter said in a press conference held in Algiers along with the vice-president of Munich International exhibition Sebastian Bauer, in order to present Baume international exhibition for the construction equipment and public works, to be held between next 19 and 25 April in Munich; “The German exports in the field of the heavy machinery for public works and construction and mechanisms for drilling the hydrocarbons sector has moved from 30 million Euros to 90 million Euros in the period between 2004 and 2008, as the total German imports towards Algeria      jumped to $1.7 billion mostly from hydrocarbons”.
  • “The German firms and industries do not fear the French and Italian concurrence which benefit from the historical relations with the North African countries. This trend is reflected by a number of companies in the Algerian-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce, which jumped from 43 companies five years ago to 600 firms in all the sectors”.
  • “More than 100 countries from all the continents participated in Munich exhibition, as Algeria’s participation will be limited this year to about 350 visitors from the general mangers of the firms and the Algerian firms working in the construction sector. Seven businessmen and general managers of German firms are expected to visit Algeria in the next December, in order to discuss investment opportunities and partnerships with Algerian institutions in the field of construction and training in cooperation with the Algerian public and private groups, including the company “COSIDER”.
