400.000 retired deprived from receiving jobless women's grants
Federation of retirees called upon Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal on Wednesday, to ensure market prices, claiming that it consumed an important part from the increase that has touched grants and pensions of retirements, with re-inserting the Article 15 of the Law 83-12 on retirement, because it will contribute to raising the grant of jobless women to more than 5000 AD, as well as raising the minimum pension to 18.000 dinars.
Federation of retirees, which belong to the General Union of Algerian Workers, held its fourth session of the Executive Council in Kitani hotel, Algiers, in order to assess the annual activity of the union, including the assessment of the increase, which ranged between 15 and 30%, and that has touched all retirees, as well as the reconsideration of the grant of jobless women that been raised to 2500 AD, however the organization, which includes about 2.2 million retirees criticized the way to apply it, because it is deducted from the grant of more than 400.000 retired, a category that got pensions of 8000 AD, a sum which was raised based on the government’s decision to compensate the difference in the granting of retirement to draw national guaranteed wage estimated at 18.000 dinars, as the federation of retirees described the decision to omit the jobless women’s grants from the pensions of this category as unfair.
The union also asked for re-inserting the Article 15 of Law 83-12 of the Code of retirement that were canceled end of 1999, at the request of the International Monetary Fund, and which stated that jobless women’s grant equals 600 times the price of the national minimum guaranteed wage, and if I this article remains it would exceed 5.000 dinars, according to what was confirmed by the official in charge of communication at the union, Ismail Boukris, as well as the re-inclusion of article 16, which states that the minimum pension must equal 100% of the national guaranteed minimum wage, or 18.000 dinars, but it was canceled and deprived the retired from this right.
The organization expressed dismay from exploitation of the pension fund’s money to pay retirement grants in advance that cost a huge financial value amounted to 600 billion dinars since the adoption of this procedure in 1997.
