45 Egyptian publishers miss Algeria book fair

A total of 45 Egyptian publishers have cancelled their participation in the 13th edition of Algeria’s International book fair due to start Monday because of fret problems.

  • The publishers say their books did not arrive due to fret problems between Egypt and Italy. A number of foreign publishers’ books arrived late as well.
  • According to foreign publishers representatives, Algerian authorities are not to blame for problem.
  • They also praised this edition’s organization.
  • “We used to spend a whole day to get over with bureaucracy procedures but all was done in one hour this year.”
  • The organizing committee limited this year the number of copies per title exhibited for each publisher to 100.
  • Computers, softwares and CD-ROMs are not allowed in the fair as decided this year also.
