5 new dams to be set up in Algeria, says Algerian Water Minister

Algerian Water Minister Abdelmalek Sellal Thursday said a call for tender will be issued to construct 5 new dams in Algeria’s high lands within the next 5-years-programme to meet the agricultural sectors’ needs.

• The minister mentioned that the cleaning of dams from dirst started in many provinces including Ghilizane (west of Algiers). “The lack of water in some dams is not due to amassed dirt but to drought especially in western provinces.”
