60 Chinese attack residents of an Algerian neighbourhood using swords and knives

Clashes took place Sunday between 50 Chinese who live in the neighbourhood of « Echnaoua » (the chinatown) in Bab Ezzouar, Algiers and the residents there because of a small problem between an Algerian merchant of household equipments and another Chinese who sells textiles and textile. 

• 50 to 60 Chinese attacked the Algerian merchant in his shop belonging to the “Azougues”, carrying swords, machetes, sticks and rail batons to revenge for their Chinese colleague, who was prevented from parking his car in front of the neighbouring shops.   
• Echorouk discussed with people who live in the neighbourhood and who were in the heart of the confrontations including “S.Khaled”, brother of the victim “S.Abdelkrim” who was seriously injured at the level of head, and is currently undergoing treatment in Zmirli hospital, along with the merchant “A.Rachid” owner of the household equipments shop, who asked the Chinese not to park his car in that place and move it in order not to close the shop’s door, however, the Chinese driver responded using obscene words and street Arabic language, in the Algerian street, where he insulted the Algerian merchant’s mother, thing that had aroused anger of the Algerian and clashed with him.
• Residents of the neighbourhood rushed to intervene and stop the dispute between the adversaries.
• The Chinese driver left the neighbourhood and everyone thought that the dispute is over and that things returned normal, however, after about half an hour the Chinese merchant returned back bringing 50 to 60 angry Chinese armed with knives, swords, sticks and stones, and attacked the household equipments shop.
• They hit the first person on their way, and when the citizen “S.Abdelkrim” 35, dealer and father of three children, tries to clarify things they pushed him back and he fell on the ground, then they attacked him using their swords, they hit him on his head and his brother on his arm, and a third one on the back.
• The local residents intervene to stop the rivalry and save their neighbours, however, when they saw blood they attacked the Chinese and here begun the war.
• The Chinese run and entered their colleague’s shop and blocked the Iron Gate fearing attack by the Algerians.
• While the security services arrived to the scene, the Chinese contacted their embassy in Algeria seeking its intervention, and the victims’ families as well as representatives of Bab Ezzouar went to the mayor asking him expulsion of all the Chinese there, threatening to break their shops and put fires there, confirming that the Chinese living in the city do not respect the Algerians through drinking Alcohol and setting the songs out loud and have sex with women.
• The population there said it’s not the first confrontation between the local residents and the Chinese living there.
