Phenomenon of smuggling money abroad witnessed a considerable increase in recent years in recent years. The largest transfer was the one made through Al-Khalifa bank where dozens of foreign workers in Algeria transferred funds in various ways.

  • According to a statement of customs, important sums of money have been seized at Houari Boumediene international Airport (Algiers) since January.  A total of 651,960 Euros, 57,200 £, $77,361, 663,000 Japanese Yen and 367,000 Algerian Dinars were seized.

  • The seizure comes within the fight against smuggling money abroad in which Algerians, Jordanians, Egyptians and Chinese were involved, said the same statement.
  • The latest foiled smuggling attempt was recorded Saturday as 4 Chinese tried to smuggle 200,710 Euros.

  • A total of 1,126 mobile phones, 1,470 I pods and 8,190 data storage cards and 3 laptops have been seized since May 2008.
