FLN’s parliamentary bloc accused the National Education Minister, Nouria Benghabrit, of trying to infringe the elements of the Algerian nation and the most important religious, constitutional, legal and innate principles, and advised her to “keep attention to the teacher and the professor at first, materially and morally.”

FLN, formally opened the controversy about the effort of the Education Minister to impose the use of the slang instead of the formal Arabic language in primary education,  saying in a “sharp-worded” statement that was signed by its President, Mohamed Djmiei, which copy is available to Echorouk; “We see FLN’s parliamentary group that the Education Ministry, that was led by the Minister Benghabrit, which erred in its aim, when she tried to infringe the most prominent elements of the Algerian nation.

According to the parliamentary bloc, the minister through this unstudied action and decision would create confusion and social strife; “We do not need such decision, and the Liberation Front Party will not be satisfied of stomping or infringement, or even trying it by any party that intended to destroy the Algerian identity and the Algerians.”

The bloc provided, in the folds of the statement, the second error of the Minister when saying: “Ben Gabrit missed the goal again through giving the opportunity for those who want to politicize the Algerian school and play around with the future of generations, and at the same time through its vision that resulted a storm in a teacup, and trampled on the efforts of the educational family that made, over more than fifty years since the retrieval of identity and the nation from France, and omits at the same time its syndicates’ struggles that were gained from the training and experience, and the reality of the Algerian School “.

Block’s statement, which defended the national identity said: “Arabic and Amazigh languages, Islam and Algeria are sacred things that infringe the sovereignty, honor and dignity, and this nation cannot build a future that safeguards its pride through stepping on the elements that entrenched in the hearts and minds of its men”.

Though the party had confirmed its defense of the Arabic language, but it recorded its openness to the Amazigh and foreign languages, saying: “We encourage everyone who aims to preserve the Arabic language and to expand the teaching of Amazigh, as well as teaching various foreign languages for openness to different civilizations, and condemn every intention and purposes that aimed to destabilize the country and create discord in its ranks.”

To redress the existing damage, FLN party MPs advised, in the lower chamber of parliament, the minister Benghabrit; “You should bother about the teacher first, materially and morally, and provide learning potential for the pupil, in line with the requirements of this time, and the exploitation of the huge investments that were realized by the President of the Republic’s program, in the provision of facilities, schools, high schools and universities around the nation, for the benefit of successive generations that will safeguard the future of the state and contribute positively in the development and construction”.
