Ali Benflis to announce 2014 Presidential election bid in the wake of electorate convening

Former Algerian Prime Minister Ali Benflis will announce officially his candidacy for the upcoming 2014 Presidential polls, two days after the official summoning by the relevant state authorities of the national electorate expected by mid – January 2014.

An active member of the Benflis election task cell, Lotfi Boumghar, told Echorouk that Ali Benflis who will vie for the forthcoming presidential elections as an independent candidate would deliver a keynote speech in the wake of the convening of the electoral body in Algiers to expound the main points and objectives of his election program.

He added that the presentation by Mr Benflis of his roadmap program ahead of the next presidential electoral contest would be held in the presence of representatives of various national and foreign media outlets so that the intended message would be conveyed and disseminated accordingly.

Mt Lotfi Boumghar also indicated that the election program to be upheld by candidate Ali Benflis was virtually sealed, only a few items are being reviewed and enriched by a panel of jurists and university scholars who also make up the staff of the Benflis election campaign drive until polling day, probably set for April 17^th 2014, according to knowledgeable sources.

Mr Ali Benflis has already minutely worked out, together with his close collaborators, his multi-faceted election program enshrining notably the principle of the separation of powers, the freedom of speech and that of the press as well as the edification of a genuine and potent national economy, according to the same sources.
