A group of illegal immigrants reached the Italian shores after 14 hours at sea
18 Algerian illegal immigrants from the eastern province of Annaba succeeded to reach the Italian island, Sardinia, over a hand made fishing boat, local sources have revealed to Echourok.

The group set sail from the beach known “ Echat” the day before yesterday few minutes before fasting break. The leader of the group has voluntarily chosen this period of time in a bid to slip through the vigilance of the coast guards.

Among the group, there were three minors whose ages do not exceed 18 from the province of Annnaba in addition to 8 university students and 7 others aged between 25 and 32 from the eastern provinces of Tebessa, Oum Al bouaki and Skikda.

The “lucky” passengers have paid 700 Euros each to one of the mediators who fixed them the departure date on a 40 horsepower fishing boat. The illegal immigrants have contacted their families upon their arrival to assure them about their situation.
