It is a universal city inside the Chinese capital Beijing; it includes everything that can attract the international cities visitors, between its walls, and holds the most prominent stars from different sports all over the world. Beijing Olympic village is unique, it is the main cause of the Olympics’ success, and a model on what the Chinese offer to the Olympic movement.

• European streets with U.S. fixtures 

• I had some ideas about an Olympic village, but I could never imagine such a magnitude, and I was thinking all the time during my short trip from the press centre to this village about this matter. As soon as I arrived to the village with my colleagues’ journalists, beginning from the entry point, I was astonished like any other visitor there, where its clean streets with a modern stile give you the impression that you are in a European or American street, either in terms of the amazing preparations or the wonderful green gardens which attracts its us. 

• High standard services

• The Olympic village is situated north-western Beijing, about one kilometre from the National Stadium, hosting about 15.000 people during the Olympics, which constitutes of more than 10.000 athletes, where a vigorous movement of athletes and the participating delegates is noticeable.
• In the eastern side of the village, the organizing committee has worked for the allocation of 42 buildings of five storeys, and provided 3276 apartments containing 9993 rooms and about 16.000 beds, to receive 10.000 male and female athletes.

• To enter the Olympic village for us –as journalists- requires a lot of procedures, initially by asking a submission twenty-four hours before the visit, which must be signed by the Algerian delegation’s officials, where the number of visits for the Algerian delegation must not accede 15 visas –according to the delegation’s president, Moahamed Meridja-.
• After that, procedures of obtaining the visa begun, through filling the passport and undergoing the inspection and control, to reach the second main entrance, where it is impossible to enter without a resident or a member of delegation.

• 50.000 meals a day and 5000 in two hours

• The Olympic organizing committee is keen to allocate all means of comfort and entertainment for participants, through building this high-class village which contains many apartments, medical clinics and a restaurant providing about 1000 meals, in addition to a sports hall and a disco.
• As for security, the organizing committee did not leave anything to chance, because there are many guards in every place, a double fence guarded by police officers, with a distance of 200 meters has been installed as well, in addition to the surveillance cameras, to control any attempt to enter the Olympic village.
