A New Scathing Headache For The Moroccan Makhzen Regime

Whenever Algeria takes the initiative to highlight its artistic and cultural heritage, which constitutes an important factor in the Algerian identity and an integral part of the collective memory of Algerians, the symptoms of “headaches” are aggravated in the head of the Moroccan Makhzen, which finds itself in a state of “obsession” waiting to search for any sedative that would alleviate the chronic pain caused by the “Algerian heritage” whenever Algeria highlights one of the components of its cultural identity, because one of the recognized causes of headaches is the percentage of light that the patient’s head is exposed to, a percentage that would stimulate the cerebral nerves and then the pain that may become chronic over time, which is not helpful. which can stimulate the cerebral nerves and lead to pains that may become chronic over time, and for which neither tranquilizers nor closing windows nor preventing light from penetrating through windows will help, let alone if those windows, through which the light from dozens of cultural and artistic events highlighted by the Algerian authorities represented by the Ministry of Culture and Arts to showcase its diverse and multiple heritage, are social media windows created by modern technologies, as in the case of As soon as the official announcement was made by the representative of the Minister of Culture and Arts, Ms. Mbarka Kaddouri, some Makhzanite pages began to promote posts that tried to mislead the pioneers of social media platforms, such as Facebook, that the music of Hawzi is Moroccan, and the misleading contents did not stop.
The misleading contents did not stop at posts alone, but were also accompanied by photos stolen in broad daylight from the activities of the National Festival of Hawzi Music, which are photos of some of the musical choirs that entertained the audience in the hundreds with the most beautiful singing of this authentic art, whose origins date back to the fifteenth century, a history that is sufficient to prove that Hawzi is an Algerian art industry par excellence, derived from Andalusian music, whose famous poets include Ben Treki, Ben Massayeb, Ben Sahla, and many others from Tlemcen poets.

However, it seems that the speech of Zouhair Bello, Minister of Culture and Arts, delivered on his behalf by Ms. Mbarka Kaddouri, which was reported by various Algerian media outlets, had the effect of a shock that seems to cause a brain concussion, one of the symptoms of which was a headache for the Makhzan regime, which, as always, made it miss its targets, when it gave orders to its virtual dolls to move quickly through Facebook pages managed and supervised by Makhzanian flies, as the Minister of Culture and Arts talked about the existence of 200 festivals. Including 6 festivals.
It will not go unnoticed, without causing a heart attack that causes a muscle spasm in this Makhzanian regime, which has no shame in attributing anything related to heritage to him, even if it comes to the cry of a shepherd on his sheep, he will say that that cry is his cry, let alone if it is about a musical “spell” from the art of Hawzi that does not cause any muscle spasm, but rather lies after as stated by the Minister of Culture and Arts, who also said about the festival that it is “our opportunity to codify, preserve and revitalize this heritage.”
Could it be that this phrase, “deep in cultural certainties,” has hit the Makhzeni regime deep in its delusions and shuffled all its cards? There is no explanation for the “reaction” to an Algerian cultural act that does not concern Morocco.
There is no explanation for an Algerian cultural act that does not concern Morocco, unless they consider the Hawzi Festival a “cultural” missile launched by Algeria at the end of the year, and if the Makhzen really thought so and gave orders to his electronic flies to attack the festival and consider Hawzi music as Moroccan music, based on his permanent and continuous wars against everything that is Algerian cultural heritage, then it is necessary to tell him with great calmness that The festival is held annually at the same period of time every year, and it is now 13 years into its artistic life and will grow, as it still has years and years ahead of it that will make it an immortal art in the global cultural memory, which is what the festival’s governorate is working on by highlighting all its musical schools and reviewing the history of its poets. And remembering those who have passed away from the names that contributed to the preservation of this legacy, the journey of the hawzi will remain.
Until the 14th edition next year, this authentic art form will remain an important element of Algerian cultural identity.
