A postal executive in Tlemcen province under security investigation into the shady circumstances surrounding his decision to embrace Christianity
The security services of Ghazaouet in the province of Tlemcen in western Algeria have opened an in-depth investigation into the shadowy circumstances surrounding a recent decision by a 42 year-old Algerian postal executive to forsake the religion of Islam and embrace instead Christianity.
- His abrupt decision to become a Christian has compelled his wife to quit him, together with his three children, who couldn’t stomach and understand his baffling move to relinquish the holy religion of Islam.
- As part of the ongoing inquiry and after the green light from the Attorney – General, security forces carried out a through search of the house of the new convert and found there several books including a Bible as well as a Crucifix and many leaflets pertaining to the ins and outs of Christianity.
- He told the investigators that he had chosen to embrace freely Christianity after getting in touch on the Internet with unnamed Christian evangelists who steadily follow their evangelical activities online from several European countries.
- Their chief mission is to propagate Christianity values and to foist on believers of other faiths including Muslims their own religion by brandishing a host of incentive offers in case of a conversion.
- According to security sources, evangelization by foreign missionaries operating on the Internet has been given a fresh impetus over the past few months mostly targeting western Algeria, as the regional city of Tlemcen is now bracing to host the much-awaited event: “Tlemcen capital of Islamic culture 2011”.
- The same sources said that these missionaries had been seeking to introduce into the region evangelization books and propaganda leaflets distorting and twisting the noble divine precepts enshrined the Holy Koran as part of their insidious and creeping evangelization campaign targeting Muslims in Algeria and elsewhere in the world.
