Abdel Bari Atwan to Echourok: The Palestinian leaders involved in the peace process leak have to depart

The notorious Palestinian journalist and publisher of “Al Quds Al Arabi” journal Abdel Bari Atwan has made a lengthy interview with Echourouk in which he gave his opinion concerning the alleged leaked secret documents from the Israeli- Palestinian negotiations and lashed out at those responsible for this shameful act, calling them to withdraw from the negotiations before fleeing like the ousted Tunisian president Zine Al Abidine Ben Ali.

• Echourok: Are you surprised by the latest leaks that involved the Palestinian negotiators?

• Atwan:  Of course it surprised some but not everybody; frankly speaking, I have already expressed myself in the past when I declared that delegating Saeb Eraakat and the group of people who consider him as the biggest negotiator was a mistake because the group that leads the negotiations with Israel has lost its legitimacy and the alleged leaks should push them to withdraw from the Palestinian political life before fleeing like the ousted president Zine Al Abidine Ben Ali.

• Echourok:   But they say that the allegations circulated in the media have been patently false?

• Atwan:  In those cases, facts are more credible then words, everybody deals objectively with the leaks because they are in line with the Palestinian authorities’ policy over the last few years and their dealing with sensitive issues.. Refuting them is another scandal.

• Echourok: You seem affected by the events?
•  
• Atwan:  I’ am since a long time now, I don’t find any term to qualify whoever dares to give up an Islamic landmark which is the property of more than a billion Muslims  who devoted themselves to Al Quds since time immemorial and billions others yet to come .

• Echourok: is there any solution as the world is watching us?
•  
•  Atwan: The solution lies between the hands of betrayed the cause and gave themselves legitimacy and proclaimed themselves as the supreme negotiators, they have to depart and throw the revolution in the hands of the people because what happened in Tunisia could also affect Palestine.
