Abdelhakim Belhadj: I have no hand in Tiguentourine attack
The former leader of the Libyan rebels Abdelhakim Belhadj has denied allegations that he was intending to pay a visit to Algeria and indicated that that he had nothing to do with any ac targeting Algeria including the terrorist attack against the gas plant of Tinguentourine, Ain Amenass.
In a declaration made yesterday to “ Gourina” press agency he said “ I deny these allegations because I have never been to Algeria and had no intent to do it”. This comes following Algerian diplomatic sources’ declarations saying that Belhadj is not welcomed on the Algerian soil.
He is suspected of being linked to terrorist activities targeting Algeria and was endeavouring to get the Algerian support in order to increase his influence in his home country, it said.
Belhdj personal secretary has indicated that this latter was due to visit Algeria, but this one has vehemently denied the news and even distanced himself from the terrorist attack that targeted the gas facility of Ain Amennas, last month.
“ I forcefully deny any implication in the terrorist attack”, he said.
He further said” Libya is going through a transitional period after four decades of tyranny and we are focusing on establishing a legal state; we have no intent to interfere in the domestic affairs of any of the neighboring countries”.
Abdelhakim Belhadj led the Libyan Islamic Group that rebelled against Al – Qaddafi ‘s regime and was an active element of the Afghan Islamic fighters though he denied any affiliation with Al Qaeda organization.
