Abdelmalek Droudkel and 51 terrorists at large involved in the failed assassination attempt against the Algerian president
The criminal court of Batna in eastern Algeria, will open the case of the assassination attempt against Algerian president Abdelazi Bouteflika next Decemeber 22 following a series of charges brought by the grand jury against a group of defendents accused in the case, judicial sources have revealed.
- The case was opened again after three years of investigations and denial of the appeal requested by the lawyer of the main convict Z. Walid known Abu Khaled. The appeal was ruled out by the Supreme Court months ago.
- The deputy public prosecutor Djamel Legroun has yesterday revealed that “ the number of convicts has reached 63 individuals including 51 terrorists at large and 12 arrested including two minors at the date of the event”.
- The leader of the terrorist organization Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb Abdelmalek Droudkel counts among the main convicts since he claimed responsibility for the operation in addition to the regional chieftain Yahiyaoui Abdelaali, known Youcef Abu Al Hassen.
- The convicts include also Abu Rouaha (36) , the intermediary and Z. Walid (28) who was in charge of collecting intelligence over the itinerary of the president and the security plan. For his part, K. Imad (17) was convicted for transporting the suicide bomber Lezrag Houari , known Abu Almokdad Al Ouahrani.
