“Alliance against nature” is between Islamists and Power, says Algeria’s former prime minister
Algeria’s former prime minister Reda Malek

Algeria’s former prime minister Reda Malek criticised Islamists and the power, saying what is happening between them is an “alliance against nature.”

  • In his book entitled ‘Liberation War and Democratic Revolution,’ Reda Malek said “the Democratic Pole” is the victim of the alliance and it is the axis of the real battle of democracy in Algeria.
  • The writer analyses the country’s conditions following the October 1988’s events and the adoption of February 1989 Constitution. He holds Algeria’s former president Chadli Ben Djedid responsible for what happened in the country after the 1988’s popular insurgency.
  • “President Chadli Ben Djedid followed the way of Sudan’s former president Ennemiri in applying Islamic Sharia in dealing with Islamists instead of facing and eradicating them.”
  •     “Accrediting a fundamentalist party like the Islamic Salvation Front (FIS) is a step which can take this party out of confidentiality. This would help the State to keep watch on it. Yet, the damage caused by this party was on the rise.”
