“Mascarades†awarded ten prizes
Ilies Salem's film “Mascarades†was awarded trophies in various festivals in 2008.

The movie presented a satirical adventure of the young Algerian Mounir who tried, using all methods and ways, to impose his existence in a small village. One day he was informed that his sister, despite her illness, will marry a rich man; he realized that he will get into troubles with his neighbourhood.

This production won the first prize on September during the Francophone film festival in Bangulym in France.

“Masacarades” was first released 11 September 2007 in Algiers. It was awarded “best Arab film” at the 32nd eddition of the Cairo film festival, with the participation of 150 movies from 59 countries.

It was also awarded “first movie” and “best female role” in addition to the “prize of jury” at Cartage film festival in Tunisia. It was awarded other three prizes November 2008 in France, “science fiction big award” and “big prize for audience” at the African film festival in Besonson, as well as “best male role” granted for Ilies Salem during the film festival of De La Reunion Island. The “Audience” and “youngest” prizes at Namur Belgium.

Recently, it was awarded the “golden muhr” worth 50.000 dollars and the prize of “international critics” in Dubai.
