African preliminaries for 2010 World Cup: Algeria vs Liberia

Algeria’s football squad is due to play its second match within the African preliminaries for the 2010 World Cup against Liberia in Blida (70 km west of Algiers).

• The national squad will have to win in those preliminaries to remain in the race.
• Its chances to be qualified seem to be big in view of its performance in the match against Senegal and the resolve of the Algerian players after their defeat.
• Saadane seeks a big win
• Winning by one goal is enough for the national squad because the preliminaries are going on in a form of a small session. Yet, the national coach Rabeh Saadane confirmed that he will work on reaching a big win to bring self-confidence back to his players before their difficult match against Gambia.
• He relies on spectators
• Rabeh Saadane relies on spectators to put pressure on Liberia. He is afraid that supporters would not follow the match after the Algerian squad had lost the match against Senegal.
• He studied Liberians’ plan well
• Saadane analysed the Liberian squad’s game plan after he had watched the match Libya-Liberia. He believes that it plays a nice game.
• Liberian players in Algeria since Tuesday
• Liberian squad arrived to Algerian on Tuesday with a delegation of 35 including 22 players headed by German coach Antoine Hey.
• The Liberian squad has been training in a stadium in Algiers since Tuesday. The last training seance will be done in Blida’s stadium where the match is due to be played.
• Antoine Hey knows the Algerian squad well
• Antoine Hey is expected to prepare a strict plan to achieve a positive result in Algiers especially that he knows the national squad well.
