Air Algérie inks three contracts for the acquisition of 14 new aircraft
Air Algérie CEO, Mohamed Saleh Boultif, signed on Monday three contracts providing for the acquisition of 14 new planes with the representatives of three world companies namely Boeing, Airbus and ATR.
Air Algérie will purchase 8 aircraft from the American Boeing (737-800 new generation Boeing planes of 150 seats), 3 Airbus planes (A 330-200 of 250 seats) and 3 others manufactured by the French – Italian company ATR (ATR 72 – 600 aircraft of 70 seats).
The first acquired aircraft will be delivered in September 2014 and the last one by the end of 2016.
On the sidelines of the signing ceremony held in Algiers, Mr Boultif said that the overall amount of the order reached 60 billion dinars that is over 800 million dollars.
He added that Air Algérie was also intent on acquiring two cargo planes stressing that negotiations to this effect were still underway.
He also underscored that these acquisitions were part of Air Algérie’s 2013-2017 five – year plan which provides for the development of the fleet of the company going from 43 aircraft currently to reach 59 ones by the end of the year 2016.
