Criminal Chamber of Algiers Judicial council, will soon reopen the file of smuggling about 595.000 Euros, or approximately 8 billion centimes from Houari Boumediene international airport towards Turkey, as the director of programming flights at Air Algérie, and head of the flight attendants, will be tried again, in addition to other defendants, who provide facilities to smuggle the money on board of a flight to Istanbul.

Case returned after an appeal of challenge to the Supreme Court, as the accused were previously trialed at Sidi M’hamed court, then at the Judicial Council in 2010, and the accused in the case are a trader who work illegally in foreign currency market “Closale” in the capital, and who is now on escape, and known with a nickname “Tayzon,” who is also the mastermind of the smuggling operations. He was punished with five years in prison, while the remaining defendants got six months and two years in prison, and they are the Director of Programming flights, head of Stuarts in charge of transferring the crew and flight attendants, but the person who reported on the smuggling operation was declared non guilty.
The accused were followed on charges of organizing a criminal gang, violation of the legislation on exchange and capital movement to and from abroad, and the misuse of position, as everyone of them is obliged to pay 12 billion centimes as a penalty.

Returning to the merits of the case, it has been discovered on August 25, 2009, when security services began investigations on two workers at the airport, who were smuggling fleeing hard currency through a flight of the company Air Algérie, as the process was facilitated by the President of flight attendants, who hided the money that he received from the person in charge of transferring the crew inside the plane.
Smuggled money belonged to a dealer in foreign currency in the black market of “Closale”, and according to investigations the accused hide money inside a cabinet of the help vests, then the man in charge of programming flight attendants and trips, chose the head of flight attendants on these flights to smuggle the money, and when the plane arrived to Istanbul airport in Turkey, a Turkish citizen received the money, according to investigations the money smuggling to Tunisia and Turkey happened with the same way.
