Members of Al Ahmaddiyya sect have appeared in a court in Skikda for four hours and revealed their plans.

The sect planned to blow up Tchaker and Damane Debih Brothers stadiums in Blida and Oum Bouagui respectively. The plan was not going to target persons but to damage the stadiums where there would be no one, according to a cousin of the sect’s leader in Algeria.

The suspect posted statements on Facebook, saying Lister City and Porto’s players Ryad Mahrez and Yacine Brahimi respectively are “unbeliever.” He also considered that football leads people to the hell.

The suspects told the court that they wanted to build mosques for their sect. For this, they have collected money since 2008 to buy real-estates. Each adherent pays a percentage from his salary. The collected money is used to run the sect’s affairs. Sums are offered for needy and ill adherents and also used to print books and circulars.

The sect was structured as part of a national plan which targeted international and Algerian football stars.

Al-Ahmadiyya’s partisans supported Egypt in Oum Darmane

According to sources, the suspects supported the Egyptian team in the match against Algeria in Oum Darmane in Sudan.

They started operating through a charity association in Skikda.

Their imam told the court did not perform prayer with people in the mosque. He chose a villa in order not to disturb the mosque’s original imam who chased him.

He also said he prayed on time and did not create troubles inside the mosque. He joined the sect after watching its TV channel.

The cousin of the sect’s leader said the sect is called Al-Ahmaddiyya Islamic Group. Its partisans believe that Prophet Mohamed (Peace Be Upon Him) is not the latest prophet and messenger. They believe that he was followed by another prophet named Mirza Ghoulam Ahmed.

Prosecutor General requested 8 months in prison and 300,000 DZ fine for the sect’s imam and 3 months in prison and 30,000 DZ fine for 21 other suspects, accused of collecting money without licence and adhering to an unaccredited association.

The final sentence will be announced on November 27th.
