Al Jazeera TV Channel to seek green light to open office in Algeria
The Editor-in-Chief of Al Jazeera TV Channel Ahmed Cheikh

The Moroccan Authorities have decided to halt the broadcasting on Al Jazeera TV Channel of a regular program dealing with Maghrebian affairs without giving clear explanations on the whys and wherefores of their move.

This program is now broadcast from Doha, at Al Jazeera’s headquarters, after receiving a request from the Moroccan authorities to stop its broadcasting from the Moroccan capital Rabat.

Pressed by reporters to give explanations about Rabat’s abrupt decision, a senior Moroccan TV executive spoke solely of technical considerations and failed to go deeper into the matter.

Meanwhile, the editor-in-chief of Al Jazeera TV Channel Ahmed Cheikh told Echorouk that Al Jazeera is firmly intent on securing the Algerian authorities’ go-ahead for the opening of a permanent office in Algeria in the very near future.
