Al Kessami’s brother to Echourok : Mossad tortured Mahmoud to death but didn’t get anything from him.

Echourok moved to the house of the Palestinian martyr Al Kessami in the eastern part of Djabalya camp to extend its condolences and had a wide ranging interview with his brother Hassen Abderraouf , who dwelt in the Israeli prisons five years long.

• Q:  We would like to extend our condolences and may the martyr rest in peace, would you please talk a bit about the martyr’s early years here in Gaza?
•  
• A: My brother Mahmoud was born in Jabalya camp in February 14,1960  and brought up in the camp. He studied at the refugee’s schools until high school than worked as a mechanics. He has always been attracted by the mosques and was jealous for his religion since his childhood; he was known for his kindness and his devotion for his brothers.

• Q: We knew that he was already jailed in the past; do you want to talk about his experience in the detention camp?
•  
• A: Mahmoud was detained for one year in the period 1986-1987 on charges of possessing an arm at his workshop but the Israeli security forces couldn’t wrench confessions from him despite torture… He resisted torture several weeks and became a legend in the Israeli prisons and a role model for other prisoners and families alike.
•  
• Q: In which he was determinant during the first “Intifadha” ( the Arab for uprising) that broke out in 1987?
•  
• A: Soon upon his liberation from prison, he started his military operations along with his comrades; the plans consisted in killing the Israeli soldiers and hide their corps in a bid to seal deals with the Israeli authorities with the aim to free Palestinian prisoners in return. His first operation was carried out in March 1989 when he kidnapped the Israeli soldier, Evi Sports and killed him but kept his identity cards… In May of the same year, he killed Elin Saadoun and did the same.

• Q: How did the Israeli forces chase him?
•  
• A: he carried the second operation with the use of a car stolen from the Jews that was spotted by the Israeli security forces and chased it; he and his comrades exchanged fires with the Israelis but succeeded to escape from the car. That was in May13, 1989 and he fled the country since.

• Q: How did you manage to contact him while he was on the run for 21 years?
•  
• A: Contacts were very weak.. He was choosing the contact means, so sometimes he used phone calls and others through letters but not on regular basis. He always doing his bet to keep in touch with us and looking after the family members and neighbors , a real gentleman.

• Q: Do you want to send a message through Echourok?

• A: We would like to express our gratitude and thank you for your condolences, Mahmoud was not our pride only, but the whole Arab and Islamic nation. We are like many Palestinian families who gave martyrs for serving Islam and keep the Palestinian dignity.
