Algeria 1 – 0 Zambia: The “Fennecs” steadily on the way towards 2010 World Cup contest
The Algeria national football squad have decisively beefed up their chances of qualification to the 2010 world cup competition after a precious 1 – nil home victory over Zambia on Sunday night at the Tchaker stadium of Blida.

The Greens achieved their objective by winning this hot qualifier thanks to a salutary goal scored by seasoned striker Rafik Saifi in the 59th minute of the game.

The Fennecs got the upper hand over their Zambian opponents in the second half after sustaining a grueling and difficult first – half during which the Zambian players were often close to score.

All in all, victory finally smiled to the Algerian Fennecs who are now on top of their group’s standings with 10 points and better chances than second-ranked Egypt (7 points) to secure a berth in the 2010 world cup finals.

To seal this much-coveted qualification, Algeria has only to defeat Rwanda in the next crucial qualifier slated for October 12th 2009 in Blida stadium.
