Algeria : 16 corruption cases to be held in abeyance before Supreme Court

In a statement to Echorouk newspaper, a trade unionist within the magistrature has revealed that 16 pending cases of corruption linked to the professional environment will be dealt with by the Supreme Court starting from Saturday.

The court will have to hand down definitive verdicts against several defendants accused of corruption practices, abuse of trust and other serious offences committed in their respective lines of work.

The Supreme Court will have a 2 day session to examine these burning cases, which have been held in abeyance for several months now, owing to very sluggish legal procedures.
