Algeria: 17 workers arrested for stealing Naftal’s fuel tanks

Hussein Dey’s judicial police in Algiers summoned 17 workers and security agents at Algeria’s National Company of Petrol Products Distribution (Naftal) in Kharouba suspected of smuggling fuel tanks and stealing more than 300,000 cubic meters refined petrol products, Echorouk has learnt.

According to sources, workers, guards and wardens are among the suspects who carried out the operation with the help of private transporters. The operation had been repeated for many times as more than 300,000 cubic meters of fuel and petrol disappeared.
Investigations show that a similar operation was perpetrated, two years ago. It was repeated late in 2012 in extraordinary circumstances.
The foiled operation gave an impression that the quantity was stolen on phases due to absence of surveillance technical equipments.
