The 3 million unidentified SIM cards in circulating in Algeria's market constitute a big challenge for authorities due to the danger they represent either on security, economy or other customers' safety, according to a source from Algerian post and communication technology ministry.

The 3 million unidentified SIM cards in circulating in Algeria’s market constitute a big challenge for authorities due to the danger they represent either on security, economy or other customers’ safety, according to a source from Algerian post and communication technology ministry.

“A set of 200 unidentified phone lines can constitute a spying network working out of control,” said the same source.

The situations of all SIM cards are being settled until the end of April to identify their owners.

Terrorists had already used those unidentified SIM cards to remotely explode bombs and to have easier contact with each other.Even drug smugglers and illegal immigrants use the unidentified lines and get rid of them once their works is done without leaving any trace.

Many VIPs and big companies possess secret phone lines for “work reasons.”

On the other hand, security forces have concerns about those SIM cards as they can be used by suspicious people to carry out illegal acts including false warnings or conclusion of suspicious agreements.

According to well-informed sources, all mobile phone networks in Algeria are a question of State’s safety and sovereignty above all. Because of that, security forces are allowed to provide those networks with security surveillance equipments in order to keep watch on suspicious calls.
