Algeria : 3 Africans jailed for heroin smuggling

A criminal court in Algiers has handed down a 4 year prison verdict against 3 Africans, 2 Malians and 1 Nigerian, on charges of heroin smuggling activities on Algerian soil.

The General Prosecutor had earlier called for a 20 year prison sentence against the defendants on account of the serious charges levelled against them.

The 3 accused who have returned to Algeria after being expelled in the recent past were rounded up by security forces with several capsules of “heroine” and “crack”, 2 hard drugs, in addition to a large amount of foreign currencies and many cellular phones.

The inquiry showed that the drugs seized were meant to be sold in Algeria..

It should also be noted that the 3 convicted smugglers were said to be infected by the Aids disease.
