Algeria : 512 importers sued for illegal practices

Judicial authorities are suing 512 importers for tax evasion and frauds, while 300 case were settled the other are still under investigation, according to sources.

The evaded amount was estimated at some 90 billion Algerian Dinars , according to sources,  which caused the treasury a loss amounted to 150  billions. This institution didn’t recover this sum yet because of the bureaucratic measures, while some operators are settling their position to carry on their activities.

Most of the defendants are coffee, sugar, milk powder and other food commodities importers who stared operating on the Algerian market in the  1990s  omitting to declare their activities to the authorities.
