Algeria / Amended penal code provides for prison terms and fines of up to 6 million Dinars for the “Harragasâ€
The new amendments brought recently to the penal code provide for stiff sanctions against illegal immigrants or “Harragas†seeking to enter or to leave illegally Algerian territory.
-
Under the new legal provisions, the arrested illegal immigrants could face prison sentences coupled with heavy fines of up to 6 million Dinars.
-
-
The new legal provisions also deal sternly with the issue of child abuse and abduction by requiring long prison terms of up to 10 years against any offender in such cases.
-
-
The amended penal code also strikes with an iron hand those ill-meaning people who get unashamedly involved in the smuggling of human organs by threatening them, if they carry out such heinous acts, with a fine of 100 million Dinars and a prison term of up to 10 years.
