Algeria and United Arab Emirates sign memorandum of understanding on military cooperation

Algerian general chief of staff, Ahmed Gaid Saleh and his Emirati counterpart Hamd Mohamed Thani Erremithi signed an understanding memorandum in military cooperation.

  • According to a statement released by National Defence Ministry, general Gaid Saleh said the signature of the memorandum is an initiative of quality likely to enhance bilateral military relations and provide success conditions.
  • This visit comes within a common continuous endeavour to develop military cooperation between Algeria and the United Arab Emirates and seek common interest issues, said the same source.
  • The statement said Hamd Mohamed Thani Erremithi paid a four-day-visit official visit to Algeria starting from June 1st.
  • Observers describe this visit as “important” as it is the first of its kind paid by an Emirati top military official in the last years. It also comes within Algeria’s endeavours to reinforce military cooperation with the countries of the Gulf especially the United Arab Emirates.
