Algeria: Attempt to smuggle 200,000 oil fuel litres to Tunisia foiled
The National Gendarmerie forces Friday foiled an attempt to smuggle about 200,000 litres of oil fuel from the municipality of Babar in Khenchela (east of Algiers) to Tunisia.
- A total of 1040 barrels of 200 litres each and two trucks were seized. The Gendarmerie forces discovered big storage houses used by smugglers.
- This comes following a campaign led by the National Gendarmerie in the province. About 100 gendarmes were mobilised and 20 land rovers were used.
- The campaign started at around 4 p.m on Thursday. All the ways in the area were surrounded. The Gendarmerie forces set up traps and carried out a combing operation in the area.
