Algeria/ Baccalaureate 2009: “A success rate in decline in comparison with 2008 session”
Echorouk has learnt that the official success rate recorded in the June session 2009 of the Baccalaureate exam in Algeria has been set at 45.04 % at the national level.

According to officials figures, the success rate for those candidates hailing from private schools dropped to just 26.60%.

The rate of success for disabled candidates has been set at 36.73%.

Furthermore, only 19.76% of free candidates succeeded in passing their Bac exam in this year’s session.

It should be noted that private schools achieved meager results in the 2009 session compared to public schools which fared quite better.

Only 262 candidates from private schools obtained their Baccalaureate diploma this year out of a total of 1004 candidates that is a percentage of just 26.60%.

The wilaya or province of Tizi Ouzou comes on top of the success roster with 59% followed by Tipaza with 54% and Mascara in third place with 51%.

The provinces of Laghouat and Djelfa trail at the bottom of the standings.

All in all, 57.80% of female candidates succeeded in snatching their “visa” to University studies against 42% for males.

This year’s success rate (45.04%) in the Bac exam is deemed as low compared to the 2008 session when it reached 53%.
