Algeria, Belgium plan 40 million euro projects

Algeria and Belgium launched 13 development projects as part of a cooperation agreement signed in 2002, said Saturday the representative of Belgian technical cooperation agency.

“At present, there are 13 projects in the process of execution valued at around 40 million euros,” said Herman Verlodt on the sidelines of a workshop in Algiers.

The projects include the institutional support at Algerian Ministry for Family and Women’s Affairs. “It aims at determining, accompanying and assessing activities related to women, children and family,” he said.

He added that the three-year-project was launched in March 2008 in which Belgium contributed by 1,200,000 euros and a 24-month-technical assistance.

According to Verlodt, an important training program has been planned in Algeria and abroad to improve the capacities of the Algerian ministry’s staff.
