Algeria, Belgium plan 40 million euro projects

Algeria and Belgium launched 13 development projects as part of a cooperation agreement signed in 2002, said Saturday the representative of Belgian technical cooperation agency.

• “At present, there are 13 projects in the process of execution valued at around 40 million euros,” said Herman Verlodt on the sidelines of a workshop in Algiers.
• The projects include the institutional support at Algerian Ministry for Family and Women’s Affairs. “It aims at determining, accompanying and assessing activities related to women, children and family,” he said.
• He added that the three-year-project was launched in March 2008 in which Belgium contributed by 1,200,000 euros and a 24-month-technical assistance.
• According to Verlodt, an important training program has been planned in Algeria and abroad to improve the capacities of the Algerian ministry’s staff.
