Algeria : bombers of Djanet airport to surrender

The elements forming the terrorist group calling themselves the Sons of the Sahara for Justice(MJS) operating in some parts of the Algerian south have officially decided to dissolve their movement and to give themselves up to the authorities.

In an interview with a roving reporter of Echorouk newspaper, an influential member of the group said that the decision to break up the armed movement coincided with the celebration last Thursday of the Mawlid Ennabaoui Echarif or Prophet Mohamed’s birthday, God’s peace and blessings be upon him.

He said that such a decision had been taken after 45 days of intense negotiations in the region of Adjrirou, about 245 km from the town of Djanet in the Algerian Deep South .

According to a local official, notables and tribal elders served as go-betweens and troubleshooters during the negotiations.

Through their surrender, the members of this movement are now seeking to benefit from the clemency measures contained in the charter for peace and national reconciliation.
