Algeria bombings can not free Al Aqsa, says cheikh Youcef Djomoa Salama

Cheikh Youcef Djomoa Salama, an imam at Al Aqsa mosque and a senior official at Al Azhar University said Islam is against terrorist acts and urged misled people to repent.

• How are Palestinians living in Al Qods amid tight Israeli restrictions?

• They live their life despite of the tough occupation conditions and plans meant to eliminate the Islamic Arab presence. Their houses are always exposed to demolition and colonies are established everyday.
• Now, Israel imposes taxes on traders to oblige them to close or sell their shops if they can not pay them. Palestinians are not allowed to conduct construction works only in very restricted limits. They want to reduce the number of Palestinians inside the city and oblige them to live in its suburbs. They forbid people under the age of 50 to pray at Al Aqsa mosque.

• How do you think about Algeria’s position towards the Palestinian cause?

• Algeria is playing its role in terms of honouring its commitments approved by the Arab League to help the Palestinian people. Its position is great. As Palestinians, we should thank Algeria and its people for supporting us. During the last war on Gaza, its nice position appeared once again through aid and the medical delegation sent there.

• How were you following Algeria’s events during the violence wave as people killed civilians in the name of jihad?

• Actually, we were very hurt when we learnt about what was happening in Algeria because we know how much this country has an important position in the Arab and Muslim world.
• Algeria is almost an entire continent with its potentials and beauty. Thanks Allah, President Abdelaziz Bouteflika came to end this violence and declare the National Reconciliation.

• We would like to know your opinion in the acts of some armed groups here in Algeria in the name of jihad and the liberalisation of Palestine?

• Palestine can be freed only if Arabs and Muslims are unified and not by killing innocent people. Even if we have different opinions, we must not kill each other.

• What is your advice to people who think they are doing the real jihad in Algeria?
•  
• I tell them they must choose dialogue as Islam is based on it. It is not shame if mistaken people admit their faults and took the right way again.
