Algerian defence ministry bought six Norway-made lifeboats equipped with detection and quick intervention devices, coast guards commander said.

  •
  • “This giant step aims at ensuring better performance of marine forces in rescuing illegal immigrants, commercial, ships and fishing boats,” General Rachid Ben Sassi told Echorouk in an interview.
  •  “The six lifeboats can contain more than 20 people abd are equipped with the most sophisticated detectors and quick intervention devices,” he added.
  • Those boats can not sink in any weather conditions even if they are overturned by strong water storms, according to the coast guards commander.
  • “Two of them are operational while the four others are due to arrive soon,” he said.
