Algeria: complementary measures to reactivate Reconciliation and « persuade » new recruited terrorists to repent
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika called for taking new measures as part of the National Reconciliation. “The current stage requires strengthening and deepening the National Reconciliation action,” he said Saturday.

  • On Algeria’s Independence Day, President Bouteflika reiterated his option of reconciliation saying: “we will not give up working.”
  • Informed sources did not exclude that contacts with terrorists in mountains are deepened as procedures for the Reconciliation reactivation through their families to convince them of surrendering.
  • According to the same sources, the president reaffirmed continuous work using peace and reconciliation to reassure many terrorists who want to surrender. On the other hand, they always ask for legal formula problems to their access to the National Reconciliation.
  • The implementation of the Charter for Peace and National Reconciliation had never been stopped in spite of its deadline expiry, said the same sources.
  •  “Many of those who surrendered after that day benefited from the Reconciliation provisions and its door has not been closed yet,” added the same sources.
