Algeria counts 10912 companies with fake labels

Services of control at the Directorate of surveillance and suppression of fraud, has done one million and 9261 control process at the national level in 2012, an increase of 27% compared to 2011, as these operation enabled the identification of 182.984 violations, in which 167.232 files were referred to justice, Commerce Minister Mestafa Ben Bada said on Tuesday.

Mestafa ben Bada, added during a conference to view the outcome of the economic control activity and suppression of fraud for 2012; “The turnout that traders tried to hide is 5190 billion centimes, with an increase of 22% for the year 2011, while the value of goods that were seized at the borders at the same period reached 757 billion centimes. The ministerial services issued 11.053 decisions to close the shops at the national level, and the number of samples that have been subjected to the matching tests reached 10.755 samples of various consumer goods and various products, as well as 4131 process of food poisoning at the national level throughout the year 2012.
“Surveillance of prices of goods and services under the law reached 48.005 operations in 2012, during which 3909 violations were issued, allowing to disclose illegal profits of 148 million dinars, while the value of the seized goods reached 28 million dinars. The turnover that the violators tried to hide is equivalent to 280 billion centimes”.
“Over 7996 interventions to purge foreign trade operations were conducted last year, which resulted in issuing 3988 violation of intervenes in the foreign trade operations, while the total number of requests for writing-off records to practice operations linked to foreign trade reached 748 requests, and the total number of applications for registration in the list counterfeiters reached 2332 cases. The total turnover of offenders in the foreign trade operations reached 160 billion centimes”.
The spokesman revealed during a conference held at his ministry that the renewal of the registration applications in the commercial register for the operations of sale of imported goods on the condition, will be in the period between August 2011 and December 21, 2012, reaching up to 35.518 cases, while the total number of requests for extension of work with the document reached 17.726, compared to 15354 companies which did not apply for the renewal of the commercial registers under the new legal conditions. The number of companies that stopped their commercial registers reached 2438 companies, compared to the registration of 5532 new companies, bringing the number of companies that operate legally in the field of foreign trade to 23258 companies”.
“Number of foreign traders who have applied for the renewal of their business registers during the same period reached 1802 foreign merchants, while 338 new foreign traders registered newly, and the number of legal merchants reached 1090”.
“10912 companies which are not yet identified reached 51469 companies, including those which were asked to fill their annual accounts since 2010, of which 39673 companies bucked the procedure for filing annual accounts for the period between July and December of the year following the financial year which is subject to surveillance”.
Regarding the control of selling normal cement, Ben Bada asserted that; “15448 interventions, resulted in detecting 3548 violations, exposing an attempt to hide the turnover of 922 million dinars, and the closure of 100 stores for cement sale, and stopping 656 process of providing cement, and classifying 354 files of owners in the file of counterfeiters, which noticed 10895 counterfeiters, including 9449 because of the number of depositing annual accounts for their companies while 2314 companies were withdrawn from the file after the settlement of their files”.
