Algeria counts 200 to 300 terrorists: Interior Minister

Algerian Interior Minister, Yazid Zerhouni, said the number of terrorists still working in mountains is estimated between 200 and 300.

“Figures given by terrorists’ leader are not far from reality”, in reference to Droudkel who made an interview with the U.S. newspaper New York Times. He revealed the number of his fellows, estimated at 200 to 300 terrorists.

“The number is not as important as power and ability,” Zerhouni added.

Concerning the status of police, Zerhouni confirmed that it is done and it is now at the level of the cabinet.

He pointed out that it will be officially released in the current year.

The Interior Minister expected that the draft bill on new administrative apportionment, which includes 107 provinces, would be postponed after October 2008.
