Algeria drops documents from administrative files to fight bureaucracy

The government will ban some documents in investment-related administrative files in an attempt to solve bureaucracy problem faced by Algerian enterprises.

A tripartite meeting was held Thursday between the government, economic and social partners in Algiers about the government action plan which includes the President’s five-year-program presented to Parliament in September.

Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal stressed the necessity of boosting the economic growth in 2013. “We have just one year and you should help as so that we can help you. We will work together on opening partnership field with foreigners. Trust is important and the country’s laws must be respected,” he said.

Finance minister Karim Djoudi said the 2012’s inflation was “shocking” and the growth out of hydrocarbons constituted 5 percent only.

Commissioner of the Bank of Algeria believes that the level of banking services quality is still weak. “The first step should be the facilitation of banking accounts opening by banning original birth certificate No 12 upon instruction of the Prime Minister,” he said.

Sellal said the government works on eliminating bureaucracy in banking accounts opening and money withdrawal. Alternative mechanisms will be set up to keep watch on money laundering attempts.

Minister of industry, small and medium sized enterprises and investment promotion Cherif Rahmani said a 50-member-commission was created to continue industrial upgrading and recovery. “A total of 43 activity zones are established in the national level.”

Employment minister Taib Louh mentioned the government’s decision to postpone family bonus payment by employers, saying public authorities pay 40 billion DZ per year. “There are 70,000 new jobs scheduled as part of pre-employment contracts.

Housing minister Abdelmadjid Tebboune said he will give instructions to administrative institutions starting from December to facilitate procedures related to construction and conformity license acquisition.
