Algeria : families to be expelled from homes if they do not pay rents

real estate offices of the locality of Algiers threatened half of the families, who benefited of houses following the major earthquake that hit the region of Boumerdes in May 2003, to expel them if they do not pay their rent estimated between 60 and 70 million Algerian Dinars.

• n this respect, these offices issued a thorough report in which they raised various problems encountered when managing these compounds, where they denounced a total disobedience from the beneficiaries arguing that the government has given these houses to them and not rented them because they were sufferers from a disaster.
• According to sources, the housing minister insisted on a strict implementation of the law on the reluctant families.
