Algeria: floods kill one, displace 187 families
Floods in Djelfa province
Floods caused considerable material losses and left 187 families homeless, two days ago in Djelfa province (south-west of Algiers).

A crisis cell was set up and the province was on alert and firefighters were mobilised to avoid human losses. Traffic was blocked in the streets which were turned into big lacks. Efforts focused on rescuing people who were surrounded by water.

Djelfa’s mayor made a plea through a local radio station to displaced families to go to the closest schools to them.

Heavy rains kill one

A 6-year-old boy was killed and traffic had been blocked for 6 hours in heavy rains which were pouring on the southern part of Naama province (west of Algiers) Wednesday.

The boy who was with his family’s members on a small car was swept away when they crossed a valley.
