Algeria former president rejected Gaddafi’s request to join Algeria to Libya, says diplomat
Saleh Koubi
Algerian late president Houari Boumediene rejected Libyan President Maammar Gaddafi’s request to join Algeria to Libya, said Diplomat.
- “Gaddafi asked former Tunisian president Bourguiba and former Syrian president Hafed Al Assad for the same thing,” Saleh Koubi told Echorouk.
- “Gaddafi was planning to be the president of the Great Sahara Republic to dominate the Maghrebin countries Sahara. This project failed,” he added.
- The former ambassador said presidents do not trust the Libyan president because of his changing positions. He blocked all the attempts to reach an Arab Maghrebin unity.
- He also believes that Gaddafi’s unwise policy towards Arab countries served the West as it planned to break all the Arab and Maghrebin unity.
- “Gaddafi managed to deceive Libyans for 43 years even after he had invented the lie that he is a revolution leader and not a president.”
- “Gaddafi was the first who supported former presidents Zinelabiddine Ben Ali and Husni Mumarek not because he likes them but he knew that he would have the same fate.”
