Algeria / France: An Israeli officer to “glorify” the horrendous colonial crimes

French President Nicholas Sarkozy has entrusted shifty lawyer Harold Clarsfelds, known as a hardliner, with carrying out a deep scientific research around the memory of the Algeria liberation war in order to make this study a so-called reference in the treatment of Algerian requests by France.

  • The deep crisis brought about by the villainous law of February 23rd 2005 adopted by the French Parliament extolling the so-called “positive aspects” of French colonialism in Algeria, allowed to distinguish between 2 types of politicians in France.
  •
  • First, a wing under former President Jacques Chirac known for his pragmatism and his keenness to foster balanced relations between France and Algeria and a second one led by current President Nicholas Sarkozy who has made his own several stances advocated by the extreme right wing in France.
  •
  • Jacques Chirac then sought to placate the French-Algerian relations by designating his friend Jean Louis Debré at the head of the think – thank cell on the Algeria war,
  •
  • Nicholas Sarkozy on the contrary added fuel to the fire by appointing to this post a die-hard right-wing lawyer who is regarded as one of the initiators of the highly controversial law of February 23rd 2005 as well as a fervent supporter of the Israeli policies detrimental to the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights.
