Nicholas Sarkozy on the contrary added fuel to the fire by appointing to this post a die-hard right-wing lawyer who is regarded as one of the initiators of the highly controversial law of February 23rd 2005 as well as a fervent supporter of the Israeli policies detrimental to the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights.
