Algeria: General Al Hamel appointed as leader of republican guards

Informed sources told Echorouk that the president Abdelaziz Bouteflika, in his capacity as minister of the national defence, has appointed Brigadier Alhamel Abdelghani, commander of the republican guard.

• General Al Hamel Abdelghani, was the commander of the border guards, and the presidential decree falls under the new promotions’ and transfers’ program at the level of various branches at the military institution.

• It is noteworthy that one of the republican guard’s barracks in Bourj Elkifane has been targeted by a suicide bomber, and has been thwarted by a guard.
